Gino Bernero
Gino Bernero has been guiding in northern California and southern Oregon since 2001. He and his wife Janet live just minutes from the Applegate River in Grants Pass, Oregon. In 2007 Gino created Confluence Outfitters with help from partners Andrew Harris and Jon Hazlett. Gino loves all of our greater and lesser salmonid friends but his real passion is for steelhead. Gino's guide schedule is built around steelhead guiding and he manages to do it for at least nine months of the year. His venues include summer steelhead rivers like the Klamath, Upper Rogue and Trinity Rivers and winter steelhead destinations like the Lower Rogue and the southern Oregon Coast. Gino is a USCG-licensed Captain and he uses his jet boat on the Lower Klamath and Lower Rogue Rivers. He is also a FFF-certified Casting Instructor.
Brian Kohlman
Brian Kohlman has been guiding in northern California for over 10 years. Since retiring from his profession as a policeman for the Santa Rosa Police Department in 2013, Brian has been guiding full-time. Based in Redding, Brian's primary fisheries are the Lower Sac and Trinity River. He also makes numerous trips to the Pit River, McCloud River, and Upper Sac each season. Brian is a USCG-licensed Captain which means he can operate a motorized boat in the inland waters of California. He does jet boat trips for stripers on the Sacramento River, for steelhead on the Lower Klamath River, and he also does Trout-Spey trips on the Lower Sac.
Luke Geraty
Born and raised in Alaska, Luke has been fly fishing for over 35 years and has chased fish in eastern Africa, New Zealand, and all over the “lower 48.” Luke regularly guides on the Lower Sac and also spends time on the Trinity and Upper Sac. Luke is a “Jack-of-all-trades” wannabe “renaissance man” with 2 master’s degrees in theology, a passion for photography and videography, and a love for great food and good people! A resident of Red Bluff, Luke and his wife have 5 kids, 1 dog, 1 cat, and 1 tortoise. If he isn’t spending time with people, he’s reading a book and drinking coffee.
Kevin Kay
Kevin is a long-time resident of Redding. He specializes in drift boat trips on the Lower Sacramento River for rainbow trout year-round. He welcomes anglers of all skill levels, from total beginner to expert, and has fished with clients from age 9 to 90. Kevin can accommodate up to 3 anglers in his new drift boat and truly enjoys getting his guests into quality rainbow trout on his home river.
Colin Coogan
Colin Coogan is a Northern California native and no stranger to the local waters Northern California has to offer. Growing up with a family of avid trout anglers got him exposed to the great outdoors at an early age. Colin has a deep passion for our local resource and a strong desire to help people better their skills in fly fishing and creating a experience you’ll never forget. Colin specializes in walk/wade trips but also enjoys chasing trout and steelhead across Northern California out of his drift boat. If you are new to the sport of fly fishing or a seasoned fly angler Colin will show you a great time on the water, creating memories that’ll last a lifetime.
Mat Squillante
Mat's guiding style combines a deep appreciation of the sport's rich history with an affinity for science and teaching. He combines 38 years of fly fishing knowledge with entomology, fish biology and the importance of holistically understanding natural systems. He adds value by explaining how to tap this library of information to inform your fishing. As a keen teacher, he assesses every client. For those wanting to improve, Mat helps them refine existing skills or gain new ones. Mat guides Hat Creek, the Upper Sac, Yuba, Feather, Lower Sac and several smaller waters. He offers both walk and wade and float trips. He can help you connect with your first steelhead, chase wild trout, learn new techniques or simply give you a relaxing, peaceful day on the water. Share your thoughts for the trip and Mat will work with you to craft the experience you want.
Ben Thompson
Ben grew up conventionally fishing and then as a teenager got hooked on fly fishing. He has fished tarpon in Florida to peacock bass in the Amazon to chunky rainbows in New Zealand and has guided salmon on the fly in Alaska. Ben lives in Chico and his primary guide destinations include the Feather, Yuba, Lower Sac, and Lake Oroville. An extremely motivated individual, he has a strong work ethic and a desire to always put people on fish while having a great time doing so.
Randy Hamann
Randy Hamann has been guiding in northern California since 2011. Based in Douglas City, Randy's main guide destinations include the Trinity River, Klamath River, Lower Sac, and Lewiston Lake. Randy is very patient, thoughtful, and highly knowledgeable regarding his local fisheries. Randy is a highly versatile guide, using his raft, drift boat, jon boat, and jet boat throughout the year on his favorite guide destinations. He has a loyal following of clients that fish with him several times a year. Randy is a USCG-licensed Captain which means he can operate a motorized boat in the inland waters of California. He puts this license to good use on the lower Klamath River for steelhead and on the lower reaches of the Sacramento River where he uses his jet boat to fish for trout and steelhead. Randy's jet-boat Trout-Spey trips are very popular.
Peter Santley
Peter Santley is a California native and lifetime fisherman. He is a graduate of the Tahoe Fly Fishing Outfitters guide school and starting working there in 2006, guiding the Tahoe/Truckee area and the Eastern Sierra. In 2011 Peter added the Trinity River to his list of guide destinations. Peter has built up quite a following for steelhead season on the Trinity River so book early! Peter joined the team at Confluence Outfitters in 2016 and specializes in the Trinity and Lower Sacramento Rivers. A patient, knowledgeable, observant guide, Peter takes pride in guiding and instructing clients of all levels. Peter gets great satisfaction in teaching the skills he has learned and by fishing through his clients. Floating down the river in his Clackacraft drift boat or wading in the river a day on the water with Peter is an exceptional experience! Peter lives in Lake Tahoe and guides all over northern California. His favorite waters include the Trinity, Lower Sac, Truckee, Little Truckee, East Walker, and West Walker River.
Art Teter
Art Teter lives in the beautiful Fall River Valley of Northern California. Calling Fall River Mills his home makes it easy for Art to stay on top of the most productive fly fishing waters found within a comfortable distance of his home. Art Teter's cutting edge, multi-dimensional fly fishing techniques, and guiding style will allow you to gain the upper hand on the water today and on all your future fishing trips. Art's primary guide destination is Fall River, although he can occasionally be persuaded to guide the Pit River, Hat Creek, and McCloud River.
Scott Saiki
Scott has been guiding either full-time or part-time in northern California since 1995. He is one of our top Fall River guides and is a regular on the Lower Sacramento River in Redding. Scott is also fully permitted on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest which includes the Pit River, McCloud River and Upper Sac.
Mike Pease
Mike Pease grew up trout and steelhead fishing with his father and grandfather on many of the well-known streams of Northern California. In his late 20s Mike took his skill and art to the next level when dove into fly-fishing while living in the greater Redding area of California. Mike is a patient and skilled fly-fishing instructor and guide. He combines a career as a Stanford-trained educator with a lifetime of fishing and adventure to provide a unique approach to teaching others to fly fish. As a fly-fishing guide, Mike strives to make you a client for life while helping you hone your angling skills and serving all your fly-fishing needs. Mike is a permitted guide in the Plumas National Forest and will take you to hidden river gems like the Middle and North Forks of the Feather River. In addition to walk and wade guided trips, Mike also offers stillwater guided trips on Lake Davis and Lake Berryessa.
Leslie Ajari
Leslie Ajari grew up fly fishing her home waters around Truckee, CA. While attending college in the Bay Area at St. Mary's College of California, she fell in love with spey casting and chasing steelhead. She started her trout and steelhead guide career after attending Confluence Outfitters Guide school in 2014. Along with being a featured presenter for clubs and conclaves, she has competed in the World Spey Casting Championships twice. Her home base is in Medford, Oregon with Marlee and Dax, and guides the Rogue River, Southern Oregon coast, Grande Ronde, and Olympic Peninsula.
Drew Griffith
Drew Griffith has been a devoted fisherman since he was a kid. He started fly fishing at age ten with his father during family vacations in Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Colorado, and in his home state of Arizona. He has lived in Humboldt County since 2012 where he first got bit by the Steelhead bug. As a guide, Drew brings a wealth of experience and knowledge when it comes to swinging flies for sea run fish on rivers such as the Eel, Smith, Klamath, Trinity, and others that will remain unnamed. He strives to ensure that you will leave the river a better angler at the end of the day. As a USCG licenced Captain, Drew Griffith is licensed to run guided jet boat trips on coastal rivers. Drew puts his Captain's License to use on the Lower Klamath where he and his guests chase chrome summer and winter steelhead.
Andreas Fuhrmann
Andreas grew up fishing the waters of Bermuda and Florida and took a serious interest in fly fishing after moving to Redding, CA. A graduate of Confluence’s 2015 guide school, he really enjoys putting people on fish and improving their skills while exploring the area's beautiful rivers. A recovering photojournalist, he has found peace in throwing Spey rods for steelhead and trout. Andreas lives in Redding with his girlfriend Lura and their two bird dogs. He mainly guides on the Lower Sacramento and Trinity rivers.
